Maison Kitsune is an eclectic mix of music and fashion. The company was created in 2002 by Gildas Loaec and Mitsaya Kayoki. The boutique started in Paris and Gildas Loaec who had worked with Daft Punk, promoting electronic and indie music labels ,wanted to add a fashion label. He partnered with Mitsaya Kayoki who is a Japanese architect and designed the store. The boutique carries mainly French labels, apparel with a fox, shoes, perfumes and candles all reminiscent of a chic French atelier. Kitsune means fox in Japanese and Maison translates as house in French. They picked the fox symbol because a fox changes its’ appearance and they wanted the store to have a multitude of change and new direction or vision. There are other stores in Soho, NYC and Japan.
